This creates a molecular bond between the gold and the steel, not a surface layer that chips or peels. Traditional gold plating applies a thin layer of gold over a base metal using an electrochemical process. Over time, this layer wears away, especially with daily wear. PVD coating bonds the gold to the metal at a molecular level under extreme heat and vacuum pressure, making it significantly more durable and longer-lasting. It’s the same technology used in the aerospace and medical industries.

Yes. Some of our pieces are made from surgical-grade stainless steel, which is nickel-free and hypoallergenic, making them suitable for sensitive skin and pierced ears.

No. Monica.B pieces are tarnish-resistant by design. Unlike fashion jewellery or standard gold-plated pieces, the PVD coating does not oxidise or discolour with regular wear.

Yes — completely. Monica.B pieces are fully waterproof. You can shower, swim, exercise, and wear them to the beach without removing them. This is one of the core reasons we use PVD on stainless steel rather than traditional plating methods.

Absolutely. Sweat, chlorine, and saltwater will not affect your Monica.B pieces. Wear them through every workout.

Monica.B pieces require minimal maintenance. If you want to keep them looking their best, occasionally wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach or abrasive cleaning products. Store in the velvet pouch your piece arrived in when not being worn.

Yes. The pieces are designed to be worn continuously. That said, we recommend removing fine chain necklaces before sleep to prevent tangling.
